Progress and Mainline Information Systems, a provider of IBM servers, storage, and software solutions, have formed a partnership to deliver cost-effective mainframe modernization of SOA and legacy data integration.

According to Progress, "Progress DataDirect brings to the Mainline Professional services portfolio the Shadow Mainframe TCO Calculator for measuring the impact of Web services, SOA and SQL data processing on mainframe MIPS capacity and the benefit of zIIP offload."

The calculator, among other tools, is just one way Mainline’s clients can analyze the risk of delaying a hardware upgrade or extending the mainframe’s value to new workloads through zIIP exploitation, according to Progress.
