Sonic 8.0 Supports Event-Driven Integration
Progress has released the Progress® Sonic® Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) 8.0, combining the benefits of open standards with the feature-rich tooling native to the Progress Sonic products. According to Progress, "The new release leverages open development standards, further improves its patented continuous availability architecture, and better supports lightweight deployments in addition to multi-site, high-transaction environments."
One major aspect of the Sonic 8.0 product release is that it has support for a RESTful (Representation State Transfer) architectural approach to integration. This allows for simplified integration with portals, mash-ups, mobile devices, and any web-based application. Many companies supporting lightweight deployments use this architectural approach.
Sonic 8.0 also has more of a focus on open, standards-based programming models including enhanced performance and simplified development for traditional Web Services and the promotion of Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs) as the default programming model. Futhermore, it also utilizes open technologies to support lightweight integration patterns with broker-less deployments
